Corona Deaths Crosses 1 Millions:

The total number of people who have died of the novel coronavirus or Covid-19 crossed the 1 million-mark on Tuesday even as Covid-19 cases continue to pile up in countries like the US, India, Brazil and others.

According to Reuters, it is estimated the number of Covid-19 deaths so far is already double the number of people who die from malaria every year.

Speaking about the Covid-19 death toll crossing the 1 million-mark, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said, "Our world has reached an agonising milestone. It's a mind-numbing figure. Yet we must never lose sight of each and every individual life. They were fathers and mothers, wives and husbands, brothers and sisters, friends and colleagues."

Reuters says, globally, more than 5,400 people are dying every day due to Covid-19. "That equates to about 226 people an hour, or one person every 16 seconds. In the time it takes to watch a 90-minute soccer match, 340 people die on average," it said in a report.
